On 29 November 2023, the Special Envoy participated in an event hosted by H.E. Ms. Lotte Knudsen, Permanent Observer of the European Union to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva. Throughout his remarks, the Special Envoy spoke about the advocacy missions of 2023; the UN Global Road Safety Campaign; and launch of the latest WHO Global Status Report on Road Safety to be held on 12 December, highlighting a 5 percent reduction in road crash deaths, from 1.35 million to 1.19 million per year since 2010 – which is encouraging news.
