UNECE supports countries in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) thanks to its role as a platform for governments to cooperate and engage with all stakeholders on norms, standards and conventions, its unique convening power across the region, its multisectoral approach to tackle the interconnected challenges of sustainable development in an integrated manner and its transboundary focus, which helps devise solutions to shared challenges.

Faced with rising challenges for sustainable development, UNECE Regional Forum concluded with renewed commitment to deliver on the SDGs vision

With the 2030 Agenda hanging in the balance and at a time of unique challenges, the UNECE Regional Forum for Sustainable Development underscored a shared resolve to redouble efforts for the Sustainable Development Goals as countries strive to recover better from the COVID-19 crisis. UNECE member States, high-level speakers including the UN Deputy Secretary-General Amina Mohammed and hundreds of key stakeholders convened for the 2022 Regional Forum, organized by UNECE in cooperation with regional UN entities. The Forum’s plenary session and peer-learning round tables placed particular focus on the SDGs under in-depth review at the 2022 High-Level Political Forum (Goals 4, 5, 14, 15 and 17), for which the Forum’s outcomes provided the region’s official input.
