UNECE/FAO, UNDA Regional Inception Workshop
The regional workshop on "Criteria and Indicators for Sustainable Forest Management in the Caucasus and Central Asia" was organised by the UNECE/FAO Forestry and Timber Section and took place from 15 to 18 November 2016 in Yerevan, Armenia.
It was the inception workshop for the UNECE/FAO and UNDA 2016 – 2019 capacity building project “Accountability Systems for Sustainable Forest Management in the Caucasus and Central Asia".
The workshop took place on three days followed by a one day field trip. It brought together five countries: Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan. The workshop introduced the project to the country participants who are expected to support project activities in their respective countries. The workshop introduced international criteria and indicators processes, gave examples from national criteria and indicator development in Austria, Estonia, Iran and Russia. The workshop was a platform for countries to present their specific situations, and for exchange and interaction between all participants.
