The facilitation of National Forest Policy Dialogues and specific studies on request from member States address issues mentioned in the scope of the Warsaw Integrated Programme of Work. This work contributes to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and forest-related SDGs, the United Nations strategic plan for forests 2017-2030 and the United Nations Forum on Forests Quadrennial Programme of Work 2017-2020.
The aim of National Forest Policy Dialogues is to share the outputs of the Forestry and Timber Section with a large number of national experts (policymakers, forest managers, forest-based industry representatives, researchers, etc...) and to gain national experience for the international work by exchanging information about a.o. the state of forests, forest product markets, wood energy and forest sector outlook.
National Forest Policy Dialogues are co-organized with a host country to adapt the international input to the national situation.

Subjects to be covered (depending on availability of funds)
- Forest policies, institutions and instruments;
- Regional and national coordination of forest and forest-related policies including forestry-related SDGs;
- Governance and policymaking;
- Green economy and green jobs;
- Interaction with stakeholders and the private sector;
- Financing for, and investment in, the profitability and competitiveness of the forest sector;
- Structural developments in the forest sector and their policy impact and implications;
- Wood energy and its implications for renewable energy policies and land use;
- Role of biodiversity and wildlife in sustainable forest management;
- Adaptation of forests and the forest sector to climate change.
