The UNECE, in cooperation with host countries, local counterparts and other partners - e.g. European Union, USAID, the Renewable Energy Policy Network for the 21st Century (REN21), dena (the German Energy Agency) and Revelle Group - organizes "ad hoc" Renewable Energy Hard Talks in UNECE countries on new possibilities for developing sustainable energy and promoting renewable energy investments in the region.
Major players in the energy field have the opportunity to discuss key issues, identify priorities and propose concrete recommendations for policy changes needed to overcome political, legal, regulatory, technical barriers and take advantage of untapped renewable energy potential.
The Hard Talks are promoting a demand-driven debate directly in the countries on what is needed to change for the private sector to invest in sustainable energy.
