The Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems Nexus amid Climate Change in the UNECE Region – Regional Strategies for a Sustainable Future
To be held in-person at the High-level Political Forum for Sustainable Development

13 July 2023, 13:15-14:30 (EDT), conference room 3, UN Headquarters, New York

The region faces intensifying climate change impacts, necessitating strategic foresight and resilient policymaking. In alignment with the Paris Agreement and the 2050 net-zero horizon, it is crucial to anticipate future climate conditions, enhance resource management, and foster technological solutions.  An integrated and holistic action is needed by all actors through the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems (WFEE) nexus approach, limiting trade-offs, and supporting governments in transforming the effects of climate change in opportunities for sustainable development.
The side event underscores efforts in the UNECE region to localize SDGs, accelerate COVID-19 recovery, and devise cohesive policies across the Water-Food-Energy-Ecosystems (WFEE) nexus.
