From 6 to 18 November 2022, the 27th Conference of the Parties of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 27) took place in Sharm-El-Sheikh, hosted by the Government of the Arab Republic of Egypt.

Water and Climate are inextricably linked. According to the IPCC 6th Assessment Report, extreme weather events causing severe floods and droughts have become more frequent and more severe due to human-induced climate change and will accelerate in the near future. The intensification of the hydrological cycle is exacerbating existing water-related vulnerabilities caused by other socioeconomic factors. The 2020 World Water Development Report on Water and Climate Change  informed that, in the period between 2001 and 2018, around 74% of all natural disasters were water-related.

The secretariat of the Water Convention organized and contributed to several sessions at the COP 27 as described in the table below.
