23rd World Congress on Safety and Health at Work

23rd World Congress on Safety and Health at Work

27 November (9:30) - 30 November (16:30) 2023
Sydney Australia

This international conference aims to gather and connect global leaders in safety and harm prevention from over 120 countries. It will feature discussions on new work health and safety ideas, develop insights into the latest research and discover innovative solutions for the workplace while building strategic alliances and partnerships to advance work health and safety. The Congress provides a forum for the exchange of knowledge, best practices, and experiences to promote safe and healthy work for all; strengthens connections, networks and alliances while laying the groundwork for cooperation and deepening relationships among all concerned; and provides a platform for sharing knowledge, innovation, research, and strategic and practical ideas to immediately implement.

The UNECE secretariat to the Industrial Accidents Convention will participate in the symposium “Crisis Management Within a Rapidly Changing World”, which is being organized by the International Labour Organization. It will present information on and the conclusions from the UN/OECD Seminar in Follow-up to the 2020 Beirut Port Explosion (online, 14 December 2021) and UNECE’s related follow-up work. It will also highlight how the Industrial Accidents Convention and guidelines and tools developed under it can be used to support governments, operators and workers in the prevention of, preparedness for and response to technological disasters, like the one in Beirut and others, including within the context of a rapidly changing world.
