The 5th United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-5) adopted Resolution 5/12 on the environmental aspects of minerals and metals management and requested the convening of intergovernmental regional consultations, followed by a global intergovernmental meeting. This briefing, which will be held two weeks in advance of the intergovernmental meeting (Geneva, 7-8 September 2023), is organized in collaboration with the co-chairs of this process within the framework of the Geneva Environment Network and will provide updates on the preparations for the intergovernmental meeting and the way forward.
