SUMMARY
The Committee initiative on Armenia was launched in 2007 as a result of the examination by the Committee of national responses to the questionnaire for the first review of implementation of the Convention (to mid-2003) and the request from Armenia for technical assistance from the Committee in implementing the Convention.

The Meeting of the Parties in its 5th session:

Welcomed the preparation by the Government of Armenia, with the assistance of the Implementation Committee and the Convention secretariat, of draft revised legislation for the implementation of the Convention in accordance with the Committee’s findings (decision IV/2, annex II); welcomed also the draft legislation as providing a suitable framework for the implementation of the Convention in Armenia, and requested Armenia to adopt the draft legislation;

Appreciated the reports received from the Government of Armenia further to paragraph 19 of decision IV/2.
