Background
Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as “the global infrastructure for the information society, enabling advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things based on existing and evolving interoperable information and communication technologies.” (ITU-T Y.2060 of 06/2012). IoT has many business applications, including electronic business uses. It is probably one of the most important technology trends of this decade, enabling the collection of timely and accurate data and seamlessly integrating it into the flow of information used for supply chain management.
IoT technology has immense potential for facilitating supply chain and trade processes. As a lot of standardization work has already been conducted on this topic, how to navigate through what is already available and ensure harmonization of the outputs?
Objective
Each of the four signatories of the eB-MoU (International Electrotechnical Commission, International Telecommunication Union, International Standards Organization and the UNECE) have developed or are developing standards related to Internet of Things. In the principle of the eB-MoU, this webinar seeks to share experiences in IoT standardization and explain what has been done and what is yet to be done.
During this 90-minute session, each of the four signatories of the eB-MoU will present their work – past, present and future – on Internet of Things. Then a brief debate will take place to discuss if an eB-MoU workshop on the subject would be useful or if other initiatives might be constructive.
Target Audience
Experts of the four signatories and interested parties to the eB-MoU are welcome to join this webinar. For the connection details, please contact the corresponding secretariat of one of the four signatories (IEC, ISO, ITU or UNECE-TFS).
