On 20 January 2021, the Special Envoy virtually met with H.E. Ambassador Mr. Fuad Mubarak Al-Hinai, former Permanent Representative of Oman to the UN in New York.
The Special Envoy showed appreciation for the leadership of Oman on global road safety demonstrated by the country’s co-sponsorship of the UN General Assembly Resolutions on Improving Global Road Safety throughout the years. The Special Envoy also gave an update on the latest UNGA Resolution on Improving Global Road Safety (A/RES/74/299) adopted by Member States on 31 August 2020, and related global targets. In conclusion, the Special Envoy encouraged Oman’s accession to the UN road safety conventions and sought advice on gaining support for the UNRSF.
