Environmental factors can affect men and women differently. Hence gender mainstreaming is key to understand differences in environmental impacts and accordingly adopt gender-responsive policies for energy, water, transport, urban planning and any other relevant sectors. While designing gender-responsive policies and strategies across sectors it is essential to include goals relevant to each sector, with measures targeting gender equality and women’s empowerment. The measures could include increase women’s participation on policy discussion and decision making, conduct gender analysis at the planning stage of policies and programmes and carrying out research to evaluate the impact of the policy.
The objective of the webinar is to learn experiences from UNECE Member State namely from Germany on the integration of gender aspects in environmental policy with reference to specific examples of measures on climate change programmes and projects.
The webinar will be also complemented by the presentations from UNECE respective division and unit on the gender mainstreaming policy and on-going projects and activities.
