On 11 October, the Special Envoy spoke about road safety at the European Parliament Session of the Transport and Tourism Commission. The Special Envoy highlighted his on-going activities and initiatives to promote road safety, as well as shared about his efforts to meet the SDGs and establish a potential UN Road Safety Fund. The Special Envoy also suggested a few measures to be taken at the European level to improve road safety, and insisted that Europe takes a leading and supporting role in other regions to help improve road safety performance. In conclusion, the Special Envoy proposed to include road safety as a factor in calculating Human Development Index (HDI), providing additional incentive for greater investments in road safety.
