On 13 March 2023, the Special Envoy contributed through a video message to the Eighty-sixth session of the UNECE Global Forum for Road Traffic Safety (WP.1). The Special Envoy praised their participation, among others, representatives from the Republic of Korea, India, Brazil, Angola and from the EuroMed Project. The Special Envoy encouraged all stakeholders to take the opportunity of this session to share knowledge on how to improve road safety, and how to curb the tragic toll of deaths and life changing injuries, by proposing appropriate guidelines to serve the universal right to safe mobility. Furthermore, the Special Envoy stressed on the importance of technological advancements to improve access to mobility and serve the needs of society. Lastly, the Special Envoy committed to continue to advocate for the use of the UN Road Safety Conventions under the WP.1 as key elements to strong national legislative framework, during each mission.
