On 9 June 2023, the Special Envoy met with H.E. Ms. Amani Abou Zeid, the African Union Commissioner for Energy and Infrastructure. This was the occasion to discuss the agenda of the African Union Summit to be held in July 2023; the engagement of African celebrities to become road safety Ambassadors in the context of the UN – JCDecaux global campaign; and the ongoing planning for the second edition of the Kofi Annan Road Safety Award which was organized in Marrakech, Morocco on 25-26 September 2023.
