On 23 January 2023, the Special Envoy contributed through a video message to the PEP Partnership on Active Mobility Conference organized by the Government of the Netherlands, the UNECE and the WHO, among the other partners. In his speech, the Special Envoy welcomed the initiatives of the PEP, that contributed to the first ever Pan-European Master Plan for Cycling Promotion in 2022. Furthermore, the Special Envoy encouraged building on the momentum of the transformations that COVID-19 brought about in many cities, including the expansion of walkways, bike lanes and the development of public transport options, which are tangible contributions to improved road safety.
