Mission to Bali, Indonesia, 1-5 January 2023

Indonesia: A middle-income country with a population of 276.36 million. According to the WHO, Indonesia has the 2nd lowest rate in the Southeast Asia Region (12.2 per 100,000 population). Indonesia has not acceded any of the 7 UN road safety legal instruments.

On 5 January 2023, the Special Envoy met with Mr. Wayan Koster, Governor of Bali, to advocate for safer roads in Bali and the whole country. On the occasion, the Special Envoy also urged Bali to implement road safety campaigns along the lines of the global one that the Special Envoy is launching in partnership with JCDecaux, and to collaborate with the UNRSF.
