On 23 March 2021, the Special Envoy delivered opening remarks at the UNRSF AB informal meeting held in hybrid format.
The Special Envoy highlighted the fact that while there is a political commitment for road safety through the latest UNGA Resolution (A/RES/74/299), it is urgent to align financial ambition and support the UNRSF. The Special Envoy pointed out that COVID-19 recovery efforts are a good opportunity to reignite the importance of safe mobility and the position of the UNRSF in these expected investments.
Lastly, the Special Envoy encouraged the Board to ask donors for their support to i) support the UNRSF activities, and ii) play an active role in terms of reaching and advocating for the Fund.
