Mission to Abidjan, Ivory Coast 7-8 May 2023

Ivory Coast: A low-middle-income country with a population of 28.4 million. According to the World Bank, the country ranked 7th out of 41 African Countries. Ivory Coast has acceded to 2 out of 7 UN road safety legal instruments.

During the mission, the Special Envoy met with the following officials to advocate for safer roads in the country and beyond:

•    H.E. Mr. Patrick Achi, Prime Minister;
•    H.E. Mr. Amadou Koné, Minister of Transport;
•    H.E. Ms. Nialé Kaba, Minister of Planning and Development; 
•    H.E. Mr. Pierre Dimba, Minister of Health; 
•    H.E. Ms. Francesca Di Mauro, Ambassador of the European Union to Ivory Coast;
•    Mr. Philippe Poinsot, UN Resident Coordinator in Ivory Coast; and other representatives from the UNCT.
