The UN Seventh Global Road Safety Week (15-21 May 2023), focused on sustainable transport, in particular the need for modal shift to walking, cycling, and using public transport. During this occasion, the Special Envoy urged all “Friends of the Special Envoy”, comprised of 86 high level officials, to join a call-to-action to #RethinkMobility, through efforts on their social media profiles. Among the results of the campaign, 475 tweets utilizing the #FriendofRoadSafety hashtag were recorded – an engagement which led to a potential reach of approximately 34 million viewers. Such numbers are a testament to the power of collective voice and the importance of the Friends' involvement in advocating for road safety.
Furthermore, the Special Envoy contributed virtually to the high-level event organized by the ECA, addressing his speech to the worst affected regions in the world, where the challenge to rethink mobility and apply solutions is the biggest.
