The meeting was organized online in WebEx.

This capacity building workshop was organized to support the implementation of the project Smart Sustainable Cities for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the New Urban Agenda in the UNECE Region in Tbilisi (Georgia).

The project is led by UNECE and is aimed at supporting the capacities of local governments to develop cross-sectoral and integrated urban plans and coherent urban policies for sustainable urban development. It also aims to facilitate implementation of the Sustainable Development Goal 11 and other urban related SDGs of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The urban development policies, in this case, include concrete investment proposals that would allow beneficiary cities to attract external financing to their projects, which will facilitate the sustainable and smart development of the city.

The Toolbox for formulating investment proposals for sustainable smart city projects is aimed at supporting the capacities of city governments to develop their investment proposals to external partners.

Objectives of the Workshop:

(i) To further understand investment priorities of Tbilisi to achieve sustainable urban development;

(ii) To build capacities of the city government to attract external financing to city projects, aimed at sustainable urban development.
