Draft UNFC Petroleum Resource Specifications and Guidelines - PUBLIC COMMENT

The UNECE Expert Group on Resource Management (EGRM) is pleased to present for public comment the draft document “Draft UNFC Petroleum Resource Specifications and Guidelines”. Consistent reporting of petroleum resources will aid policy formulation, national and corporate resources management and financial reporting.

The United Nations Framework Classification for Resources (UNFC) is a global system used by countries, companies or individuals for the sustainable management and reporting of energy, raw material resources and geological storage. Establishing a complete picture of the current and future supply base of energy and raw materials is necessary for effective and sustainable resource management and policy development.

With the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development (2030 Agenda) in 2015, sustainable management has become the fundamental basis for the balanced future development of the planet’s resources. The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) require energy and raw materials for their timely realization.  UNFC offers clarity in capturing the technical feasibility, as well as social and environmental issues that might have an impact on the project life cycle.
