Energy efficient and affordable housing for low-income population

The main focus of this side event is to present and discuss the latest developments in implementing energy efficiency measures in affordable housing projects in Southern-Eastern Europe and share the experiences with other countries, with a particular focus on cost effectiveness of investments for low-income families and financing mechanisms for energy efficiency. The event provided a forum for policy makers and experts to discuss implementation of the National Energy Efficiency Action Plans (NEEAPs) as well other new initiatives, including new innovative financing schemes, main stakeholders and the role of housing associations, condominium associations, local authorities, private sector in promoting energy efficient affordable housing.

This side event was organized by the UNECE Committee on Housing and Land Management, and Albania's Ministry of Urban Development and National Housing Agency.
