During the Special Envoy’s mission to New York, Ms. Mariangela Zappia, Permanent Representative of Italy to the UN in New York, hosted a dinner on 6 June 2019 in Special Envoy’s honour, with participation of representatives of diplomatic corps and UN agencies.
The event served as an informal launch of the New York friends of Road Safety Network, similar to the one in Geneva, which was launched in March 2019 under the leadership of the EU Delegation in Geneva. Such networks are aimed at contributing to road safety awareness raising, support to the Special Envoy and UN Road Safety Trust Fund activities and serve as an instrument for mobilizing funding for road safety.
