Regional Forum – Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian Countries

Regional Forum – Meeting of the Heads of Emergency Authorities of Central Asian Countries

04 - 06 October 2022
Dushanbe, Tajikistan

UNECE substantially contributed to the meeting, notably, by placing a focus on the importance of strengthening technological/industrial accident risk management, taking account of natural, including, climate-related hazards and risks, in relation to possible Natech events. The Forum welcomed UNECE’s role in strengthening disaster risk governance and management nationally and in a transboundary context – through policy dialogue, and capacity building on the ground – aiming to bring the countries closer to achieving the priorities under the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction. This support is and will continue to be provided under UNECE’s legal instruments, such as the Industrial Accidents Convention and the Water Convention & Protocol on Water and Health, in close cooperation with partners, such as UNDRR and the Centre for Emergency Situations and Disaster Risk Reduction of Central Asia.
