WEF Annual Meeting 2019

The Special Envoy attended the 49th World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2019, which focused on shaping a new architecture for the next wave of globalization. This year’s Davos forum brought together nearly 3,000 global leaders from a range of sectors around a discussion of various initiatives and ways to address global problems, including through innovative public-private partnerships. 

While in Davos, the Special Envoy had bilateral meetings with a number of high-level government officials and senior officials of the leading Multilateral Development Banks, calling for coordinated action, particularly in low- and middle- income countries, encouraging increased investments to advancing global road safety as well as consideration of support to the UN Road Safety Trust Fund.
The Special Envoy met with the following high-level stakeholders:

o Mr. Andreas Scheuer, Federal Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure of Germany

o Mr. S. Iswaran, Minister-in-charge of Trade Relations, Singapore

o Dr. Richard Sezibera, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Rwanda

o Mr. Akinwumi Ayodeji Adesina, President, African Development Bank Group

o Sir Suma Chakrabarti, President, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development 

o Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, Chief Executive Officer, World Bank
