United Nations High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development: Side Event organised by the Global Initiative for Child Health & Mobility and the G4 Alliance

The Special Envoy participated in a side event sponsored by the FIA Foundation, Mission of Czech Republic, Mission of Belize, Mission of Brazil, Mission of Georgia and Mission of Oman at the UN Headquarters in New York during the High-Level Political Forum on 14 July 2017. The event was an opportunity to discuss challenges and successes in reaching the Sustainable Development Goals on safe and sustainable mobility.
The Special Envoy addressed the audience of representatives from over 20 countries, including Ambassadors of Member States, as well as experts from the WHO, the Global Initiative for Child Health and Mobility, and participants from a number of UN agencies, NGOs, academia, and the private sector. In his keynote address, the Special Envoy urged countries to take a cross-sectoral approach to road safety by recognizing its tripod linkage to health, environment and transport.
The Special Envoy also welcomed support on the proposal for the establishment of a UN Road Safety Fund aimed at addressing low level of road safety funding globally.
