The Forests, Land and Housing Division supports two UNECE subprogrammes: - Subprogramme 7, Forests and the Forest Industry and the Housing and Land Management component of subprogramme 8.
Technical cooperation and capacity building activities in the areas of Forests and the Forest industry support programme countries in developing evidence-based policies for sustainable forest management, monitoring of forests and forest products, forest landscape restoration as well as the promotion of urban forests and trees.
Technical cooperation and capacity building activities in the areas of housing and land management promote sustainable urban development, the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals at the local level, and transparent and efficient land use within programme countries.
The Division serves two UNECE Governing Bodies – the Committee on Forests and the Forest Industry and the Committee on Urban Development, Housing and Land Management with their respective Working Parties and Teams of Specialists, including the Forum of Mayors. Their decisions are reflected in the technical cooperation programme of work of the ECE region.
