On 2 December 2020, the Special Envoy met with H.E. Mr. Xu Chen, Permanent Representative of the People's Republic of China to the United Nations Office at Geneva and other International Organizations in Switzerland.
The Special Envoy took the opportunity to congratulate China on commitment to national road safety in recent years as well as to highlight opportunities for improvement. During the discussion, the Special Envoy highlighted the country for its role in global road safety, having the one of the world’s largest auto market. Moreover, the Special Envoy expressed support for the UN Sustainable Transport Conference, and encouraged contributions to the UNRSF.
