Meetings with Government Officials in Colombia

Following his previous visits to Colombia in October 2016 and January 2018, the Special Envoy had a country mission to Colombia on 5-6 August 2019. During his mission, the Special Envoy had several bilateral meetings at the highest level, including with the President of Colombia.
During these meetings, the Special Envoy advocated for safer transport and roads as well as accession to UN road safety conventions. The Special Envoy called for amplified action towards improving road safety in line with international norms.
In conclusion, the Special Envoy shared about the recently established UN Road Safety Fund, encouraging applications for funding during the upcoming call for proposals as well as encouraged high-level participation in the Third Global Conference on Road Safety, which will be hosted by the Government of Sweden on19-20 February 2020.
