Enhancing buildings' energy performance

Buildings are responsible for 40% of combustion-related CO2 emissions in developed countries and consume 70% of electrical power generated. To tackle this issue, UNECE has developed Framework Guidelines for energy efficiency standards in buildings, which accelerate the transformation to high-performance buildings.

UNECE’s international networks and centres of excellence in New York City and Pittsburgh, Vancouver, Wexford and Brussels are helping to advance research, education and the use of high-performance building materials, design, and construction.
