UNICEF & FIA Foundation webinar “Guidance on safe and healthy journeys to school during COVID-19 pandemic and beyond”

UNICEF

On 8 September, the Special Envoy delivered opening remarks at the webinar “Guidance on safe and healthy journeys to school during COVID-19 pandemic and beyond” jointly organized by UNICEF and FIA Foundation.

Re-opening schools requires not only controlling the spread of coronavirus disease in schools, but also on the journey to access education. As schools re-open, everyone should play a role in keeping all students safe and healthy every step of the way. UNICEF, with support from the Child Health Initiative and members, such as Save the Children, issued a guidance to help manage the risks posed by COVID-19, to help ensure the safest, healthiest journeys to school possible. The above guidance is for education authorities and policy makers; school administrators, teachers and staff; parents, caregivers and community members; and students. It will complement UNICEF’s global framework and interim guidance on how schools can safely reopen.

The Special Envoy commended UNICEF and FIA Foundation for being a voice for children in such difficult and unprecedented times and for using an exceptional situation to “Build Back Better” for children around the world.
